Meet Our first-Year Grad Students!

Mumtahina Islam is a first-year Ph.D. student and graduate teaching assistant for the Department of Economics. She received her Bachelor in Social Science and Master in Social Science, both in Economics, from the University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh. After completing the degree, she would continue her research on the socioeconomic growth of developing countries like Bangladesh and South Asian countries, especially on the role of women empowerment.

I am Archi Arnob, a first-year Ph.D. student in economics at the University of Kansas. I hold an undergraduate degree in economics and mathematics from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Born and raised in Bangladesh, my multicultural background and interdisciplinary education has given me a unique perspective on the economic landscape. As a doctoral student, I am committed to furthering my knowledge and making meaningful contributions to the field of economics.

Hello. My name is Weinan Liu and I am from Tianjin, China. I graduated with two bachelor's degrees (statistics and economics) at Iowa State University in 2022. I have interest in applied microeconomics. I hope to become a teaching professor after receiving my Ph.D. degree.

I completed my undergraduate and master’s degrees (both in economics) from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet, Bangladesh. I aspire to pursue a career in research where I can generate value-adding original ideas; and join academia after the completion of my doctoral degree.
