Department Hosts New "Econ Cafe" To Connect Faculty, Students, and Guests

One of the highlights from among an array of events and activities the Department of Economics has put on over the past year has been the new Econ Cafe. The addition is an effort by the Department to increase the connection between itself and its students, as well as foster a new culture of support and engagement during and beyond their time here at KU. The weekly cafe boasts an array of exciting and informative speakers who engage in thoughtful conversation around various economics topics - as well as career preparedness and opportunities. One favorite and frequent speaker,  Natalia Plotnikov from KU's Career Center, has been instrumental in helping students with their efforts to find internships and postgraduate jobs. The event also invites area business owners to speak about their experiences and explain how what is taught in the classroom has real-world applications. The Cafe is a weekly event that allows students a break from their studies to meet up over a cup of coffee while boosting their camaraderie and collaboration. The Department has very much enjoyed hosting the students at these events and looks forward to the many Econ Cafes to come!
